WHAT IS PHYSICAL THERAPY? - Physical therapy is a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention. It is carried out by aphysical therapists. Chiropractors are also licensed to perform physiotherapy.
 

Physical therapists and chiropractors use a variety of modalities to help treat their patients. There are a variety of treatment modalities that can help strengthen, relax, and heal muscles.  Some of the modalities used are heat, traction, therapeutic exercises, gait training, moist heat, ultrasound, laser treatment, manual therapy, electrical muscle stimulation and several other modalities.  Each case is unique and the therapist or chiropractor will asses and produce a treatment plan.  Many times you will be instructed in a home exercise program. 

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE? - Chiropractic is a complementary and alternative medicine health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractors primarily practice manual therapy, with an emphasis on manipulation of the spine and physiotherapeutic modalities.  Manual and conservative therapies commonly used by chiropractors are effective for the treatment of neck, low back pain, and most soft tissue injuries.  It is also effective for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation with radiculopathy, neck pain, some forms of headache, and some extremity joint conditions.
